Dolphins are a fascinating species. Their sleek skin, wide flippers, and exceptional hearing (the best of any animal!) are necesities for their survival undersea.  The Dolphin at right is the type you are probably most familiar with - the bottlenose dolphin.

Bottlenose dolphins are the most friendly to humans of all types. Because they are trainable not very shy, they are often used to entertain.  They can be taught to perform tricks due to their excellent mental capabilities.

When in the wild, dolphins usually choose to feed on fish and squid. They have been known to use things around them such as coral as tools to help them catch and corner prey. When their favorite food is scarce, however, bottlenose dolphins will eat things such as eels and sharks.
