Avril is an original so naturally she writes her own music.  For that she has won a Best New Artist Award at the MTV Video Music Awards.  Her album, Let Go, debuted at # 8 on the Billboard 200 album chart.  Her video for "Complicated" has been in the coveted  number 1  spot on TRL.

      Avirl remembers standing in her bed as a stage when she was younger 

       and singing at the top of her lungs. Later she moved on to perform in church and at festivals or anywhere else she could to get noticed.    

     At age 16 she  caught the attention of Antonio "LA" Reid. She moved to New York and was signed by Arista records. She didn't want to sing the songs that were written for her but she was having trouble writing her own. She moved to Los Angeles and had much better luck there.  There she wrote her songs and her album, "Let Go", was produced.  

     Avril plays guitar and sings the lead and has a band. The boys in the band are Evan, Mark, Matt, and Jesse.  Avril loves to having them with her. She fools around with them and does things like give them make-overs and mud masks. Avril thinks of them as her brothers and best friends.
