To the left is a picture of a five-string bass guitar. A five-string guitar is used for more of a hard rock sound. The top (b) string is the thickest string it makes a deeper sound. P-nut and Flea use five strings in some songs. Five strings can also be used for funk. |
| This is a standard four string bass it is the most commonly used bass guitar. This is what most bass players use. Most guitar models come in four or five string models. This is better than a five string for slap bass. All beginners should start with a 4 string model. |

This is an acoustic bass its hollow body is used to throw
out the sound. There are not many company's that make acoustic basses. Mainly the only company's that make them are Dean and Taylor guitars. There aren't many bands who play with the acoustic bass. Acoustic basses need special amps because they are higher pitched than a regular electric bass. |
