Destiny's Child has sold more than 15 million
albums and singles worldwide. The writing's on The Wall the group's
sophomore album has sold over 9 million copies as well. Released on
July, 27, 1999, The Writing's on the wall was certified 7x platinum by the
RIAA as of February, 26, 2001. More than a year after the release The
Writing's on The Wall was still in the top 20. They ended up in
number 11 on the countdown. The Writing's On The Wall has generated three
Top 10 hits on the billboard R&B singles chart:"Jumpin
Jumpin, " Say My Name, and "Bills, Bills, Bills, which spent nine
weeks at #1 on the billboard R&B chart longer than any other recording
the #1 position in 1999) In the summer of 1999, "Bills, Bills,
Bills was the #1 song on R&B radio for 4 weeks in a row. Both
Bills, Bills, Bills and Say My Name topped the Hot 100 and the R&B
Singles chart. "Bills, Bills, Bills received two Grammy awards
for Destiny's Child: Best R&B Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocal
and Best co written, in part, by Destiny's Child. Destiny's Child was
awarded the coveted NAACP Image Award in the outstanding duo or group
category for the Writing's on the Wall. Destiny's Child's videos
have become mainstays on MTV and VHI, who featured the group on Divas
2000: a tribute to Diana Ross." Say My Name" won the best R&B
Video Award at the 16th Annual MTV Video Music Awards. De stiny's
child has contribuated music to the hit soundtracks for Men In
Black, Romeo Must Die, and Life. The group performs two songs--
Independent Women Part 1-- and DOT--on the best-selling Charlies
Angels. Destiny's Child also toured with Christina Aguilera in the
summer of 2000. Destiny's Child also won the favorite Band Group
soul and blues music award at the 28th Annual Music Awards, announced
January 8th 2001, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The trio
has been nominated as Favorite Singing Group in the 14th edition of the
Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards. With "Independent Women Part
1", Destiny's Child became the first American all female group ever
to debut at #1 on the UK charts.
