I Love Lucy

On October 15, 1951, the first episode of "I Love Lucy" premiered on television. The show became the Seinfeld of its era. "I Love Lucy" was the top - rated program in America for four of its six years on TV. Millions tuned in every Monday night to see Lucy, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel. The cast seemed just like old friends. On January 19, 1953, Little Ricky was born to the character of Lucy Ricardo. Coincidentally, the same night that the show was broadcast, Lucille had her second child, Desi Arnaz Jr. (She had her daughter Lucie two years earlier.) The silly, yet lovable, Lucy Ricardo was a character who was beloved. Whether Lucy was putting together one of her famous plans or making a fool of herself in front of a Hollywood star, we laughed along with her. Lucille always performed every scene - no matter how unbelievable. Lucille Ball was just a natural - and a perfectionist. She always gave 100 percent to everything that she did. Lucille made millions roar with laughter. Although Lucille Ball has died, her "I Love Lucy" reruns can still be seen on television.
