| I
am only going to tell you about the important Steelers moments in
history. We are going to start in 1969. The Steelers
went 1-13-0 in the 1969 regular season which gave them the first
pick in the draft. Chuck Knoll picked Terry Bradshaw.
Knoll continued with Mel Blount. He continued with linebacker Jack
Ham in '71 and Franco Harris in 1972.
In
1972, the Steelers played their first playoff game at 3 River's
Stadium. They won but lost the following week against the undefeated
Miami Dolphins. This brought the Steelers to a higher level for the
next season.

The
Steelers went 10-3 in '73 but lost the Oakland Raiders in the AFC
Wild Card playoff game.
In
the 1974 the Steelers won their first Super bowl. Art Rooney
givin The Vince Lombardy Trophy for the first time.
In
Superbowl 5 the very nest year, Pittsburgh won their 2nd title and
became 1 of 3 teams to win the Lombardy in back-to-back seasons
joining Miami and Green Bay.
In
1976 the Steelers lost to Oakland in the 2nd round of the playoffs
due to injuries to Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier.
The
Steelers became the first team in 1978 to win 3 Super bowls in NFL
history. The beat the Dallas Cowboys 35-31.
In
1979 the Steelers made history beating the Rams. Pittsburgh
became the first team to win 4 Super bowls and the first to win
back-to-back Super bowls twice!
The
Pittsburgh Steelers were good back in the day but they need to now
take after their elders and do something positive! |
