When you are playing Magic the Gathering you start out with twenty life points. Your goal is to whittle away your opponents life points by attacking with your creatures and casting instants on him/her. |

This is a creature. You use these to attack and defend. These cost mana to summon (bring out). To use the mana you must tap (turn a quarter turn) them. You can't attack on the first turn you bring them out. The reason is because they have summoning sickness. But to every rule there is an exception, in this case they can attack on there first turn if they have haste. When you attack or defend you tap that creature. Unless it says " (creature's name) do not after attacking. |

Let's say that you attacked with the creature on the right(2/3) and your opponent blocked with the creature on the left(2/2). Your creature being stronger than the opponents yours would live but his would be destroyed. |

Referring to the example above your opponent could still kill you creature even the damage has been done. They only need to deal it one damage with an instant. Like the one on the right. |

You still could save you creature with a counter spell. Counter spells can only be used after a spell of some sort (Such as a creature, instant [in this case], artifact, or a sorcery). |
