The West Highland White Terrier is a terrier native to the Scottish Highlands. They hunted fox, badgers, and small vermin.  Throughout the 19th century, there were many different names for the Westie.  Some were the White Scotch, Little Skye, Cairn, Roseneath, and the Poltalloch Terrier.
