He was a very talented baseball player , he opted instead to form the St. Lunatics rap crew in high school with his friends Kyjuan, City Spud, Dig lee, Murphy lee, and slow down. St Lunatics enjoyed a local underground hit in 1996 with Gimmie what u got, but they failed. In 1999, Nelly opted to pursue a solo career and was signed to Universal Records .His popularity changed from no one to national success when "Country Grammar" came out. He's debut collection took over from Eminem at the top of the US album chart and stayed there for several weeks. Nelly's rhyming style offered an interesting new angle with smooth flow tailor made for the crossover urban R&B market. Nelly's still out there doing great! |
