Mario Lemieux has led his Pittsburgh Penguins team to two Stanley Cups in the early 90's and he is trying to make this year be his third Stanley Cup season.

 

Mario scored 16 goals and 28 assists during his 23 playoff games in 1991.  His 44 playoff points was the second highest total in Stanley Cup history. 

In the 1995-96 season he won his 3rd Hart Trophy as the NHL's Most Valuable Player, becomming only the seventh player  to win the trophy at least three times.

In December of 2000 after a 3 and a half year retirement, durring which he became the owner of the Penguins franchise saving them from bankruptcy. He made all Penguins fans hopes come true by returning to the ice.
