The 914 was first created in 1969.  This car was the first 914 used for a time by Ferdinand Piech, then Porsche chef engineer.

With full-race tuning and about 300 horsepower, it was clocked at a smashing 250 km/h (155 mph).

This is a 918.  It was created at the same time as the 914.  It was in a trio of contemporary photos with the 914 also.

The trio of contemporary photos of the 914 and the 918, were taken for Dr. Ferry Porsche's 60th birthday.

The 914 was one of the many racing Porsches.  It had a 2.4-liter 911S engine with 190 DIN horsepower.

The racing of the 914 began in 1970.  After which privateers took over in SCCA and other venues.
