Welcome to my page! If you are not aware, there are MANY different kinds of horseback riding. The two styles are English and Western. Some forms of English riding are English Pleasure, Hunter, Jumper, Fox Hunting, Racing, and Dressage. Western Pleasure, Barrel Racing, Key Hole, Bronco Riding, and Pole Bending are some forms of Western.
In this web page, you will find out lots of information only about Three-Day Eventing. Please read "The History of Eventing" so you can understand a little bit about it before entering the other links!
History of Eventing
Eventing, also known as Combined Training, is designed to show the rider's spirit, boldness, and perfect knowledge of his horse's speed and ability. The rider has to show the condition, handiness, courage, jumping ability, and stamina of a well-trained horse. Eventing traces its beginnings back to "The Militaire" in Europe. It was a competition introduced at the 1912 Olympic Games as the ultimate test for a Cavalry Horse. The only people allowed to compete for the United States were active-duty Army Officers mounted on Military Horses. As of 1924, Eventing was open to civilians, but noncommissioned Army Officers were not allowed to take part in Olympic Games until 1956. Women were not allowed to participate until 1964.
