When we first learned that BSB's new album was titled Black and blue we wondered why. But now we have the answer ."We titled the album Black an d Blue for several different reasons," explained Howie. "we came  up with the concept when we were doing the last photo shoot for the album. We were constantly thinking of the possibility of going with a color like how the beetles went with The White Album. We were shooting in black outfits with a blue back drop behind it, and Brian just said 'What about Black and Blue?' And we were like ,'Well what do you mean?' The photo shoot looked very good (with these colors), and I thought may it could be a good. Brian explained., 'You know what? A lot of critics out there are constantly throwing dagger art us, and every once and a while, we get beaten down, but we're still staying around." Brian thought of Black and Blue. We thought that was kind of cool. And also it was great since we found out the Rolling Stones Had an Album titled Black and Blue 25 years ago. They're definitely idols that we look up to in the music industry."

Black & Blue shows hoe the guys have grown as artists as they experiment with different types of music. But creating this new sound was not so easy. It took a lot of hard work and concentration. They spent five months in the Bahamas to concentrate on writing without distractions. "we're Enjoying the Bahamas because it's just a great vibe," Kevin said while he was there. "When you're feeling like you've got the writers block, you can walk out on the front door and onto the beach with a tape recorder and a pen and a pad and just let it all come out. A.J. added, "It'll be interesting to see what we come up with without out girl friends, fiancées and security around. We'll be moving away from the computer-generated stuff. Nick is adamant about playing drums, and Kevin wants to play the piano. We'd like to beat Millennium, but it's more about the quality of the album than wanting to sell 20 million albums."
