There are many different penalties in the NHL and I am willing to teach you them all. I have pictures below of some of the major penalties and their meanings.

High Sticking- Carrying the stick above the shoulder against an opponent. |

Holding- Using hands on an opponent or his equipment. |

Spearing- Using the stick like a spear. |

Slashing- Swinging the stick at an opponent. |

Hooking- Using the or blade to hook an opponent. |

Elbowing- Using the elbow to impede an opponent. |

Cross Checking- Hitting an opponent with both hands on the stick and no part of the stick on the ice. |
