| Most sharks eat animals smaller then there selves.
That ranges from claims, squid, and fish. Some sharks eat large
mammals, such as sea lions, dolphins, and dead or dying whales. Most
sharks though do not swallow their pray hole, usually small stuff.
They mostly eat at dusk. |

A shark can eat one good meal and be satisfied. Some
sharks are fast swimmers that catch fish with their sharp, pointed
teeth. Still others search the coastline for seals, dolphins, and
seabirds. Many are bottom dwellers that feed on crabs and shellfish
in the ocean. |

| Sharks can pick up the sent of blood or other body
fluids. It's sense of smell of is so sensitive that it can detect
one part of blood in many millions of parts of water. It sometimes
can lead the shark to it's prey. Usually sharks swim alone but if
there is prey a group of sharks may gather. When a shark wants it's
prey they will circle very cautiously and then bump it so it won't run
away and then eat it. Not all sharks have big teeth to catch things
with. |

A sharks tooth has an inner bone layer that contains a nerve
and blood vessels. The layer is covered by and outer layer of enamel
that makes the tooth very hard and durable. Sharks do not chew there
food because they do not have molars, and there jaws are not designed for
grinding food. They have five to ten rows of teeth in their mouths.
They can taste there food because they have taste bubs all throw there
throats and mouths. |
