F-14 Tomcat
|
Long ago, the United States was in the middle of a cold war with the Soviet Union. We needed a plane that could protect us from aerial assault and a long range capability. That plane was the F-14 Tomcat. |

Developed in 196 , it is still used today as one of the best fighters ever created. It's legendary swing wings give it incredible and unbelievable maneuverability for it's size. |

The Tomcat is the largest fighter aircraft in the United States arsenal. It is big enough to need a pilot and co-pilot. |

The legendary swing wings of the Tomcat are one of the two reasons that she's still in service. These wings allow her to be more maneuverable than modern MiGs. The second reason is that the Tomcat is the only planed designated to carry the Phoenix Missile. The Phoenix Missile can be fired from 100 miles away at an enemy aircraft and crush them in one swift blow. |

The Tomcat is the main plane used by the Untied States navy. It has been called the "Protector of the Sea" by some of the pilots and personal. The navy has been using this plane for more than 30 years. It has bested the best that the Soviets and the Chinese had to offer, although its time may be coming to an end. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, the navy has seen no sea combat, only helping in amphibious assaults. Because of this, the F-14 has not been needed and has been sent merely on patrol. With the adoption of the F-22, the navy will have a new tactical fighter and interceptor, hence a replacement for the Tomcat. |
