The word "tack" is used to describe the different equipment used for riding and working with horses. There are many different types of tack.

 

 

Bridle

    The bridle is a harness for the horse's head, with several leather straps.  The bit is connected to the bridle to control the horse when you are riding. 

Halter

    The halter is used to control the horse.  It is usually connected to a rope and used to lead the horse around.  It can also be connected to a lunge line and used for lunging.  

         

 

 

Western Saddle

    Western saddles are used for barrel racing, and various other western riding events.  Unlike the English saddle, it has a horn used for roping cattle.

English Saddles

    There are many types of English saddles.  There is the dressage saddle, the jumping saddle, the general purpose saddle, and many more.
