Horses come in a variety of different colors and patterns.

Sorrel

The color of sorrels is a copper-red.  They are sometimes hard to distinguish from chestnuts, but the main difference is the sorrels have a yellowish tint to their coats.

Palomino

Palominos have a golden yellow color body with Flaxen or white manes and tails.  In some places, the Palomino is considered a color, while in other places, it is a breed.

Grey

Grey horses come in a variety of shades, from almost white, to a darker, dappled coloration.  Grey horses are usually born a solid color, and lighten as they get older.

Chestnut

Chestnut colored horses have a distinct reddish color to their bodies.  Chestnuts come in a variety of shades from light to dark.

Buckskin

The true buckskin has a yellow or golden body with a black mane and tail.  The lower legs are usually also black.

Black

For a horse to be considered truly black, his body color must be a solid black along with its mane and tail.

White

True white horses are completely white, with a pink muzzle and light colored hooves.  Whites are often seen with pink eyes (albinos) or blue eyes (perlinos).  They may also have brown eyes.
