Emily was born in 1972 and is the sister of Martie Erwin. She began playing the violin when she turned seven. She then began playing the banjo, the dobro, the mandolin, and then other instruments. In 1984 she and Martie began playing in the Bluelight Express. In 1989, she and Martie made their debut appearance at Poor David's Pub. She was later married to country singer Charlie Robinson on May 1,1999.
	Emily's Birthday is August 16, 1972. She was born in Pittsfield, MA. Her home town is Dallas, Texas. Before she became a Dixie Chick's member, she was a hostess in a restaurant. She attended Greenhill High School, where she played soccer and softball.
Emily has dark brown hair. She has hazel eyes and is 5'8". She is right handed. She is the daughter of Paul Erwin and Barbara Trask. She has two older sisters, Julia and Martie. Also, she has two dogs, Buddy and Katie.

Some of Emily's hobbies and interests include remodeling her house in San Antonio and going on vacations. One of her pet peeves is bad drivers! Her influences include Bela Fleck, Emmylou Harris, Glen Campbell, Jerry Douglas, Dolly Parton, Boston, Merle Haggard, and Shawn Colvin.

Emily began playing the violin at age 7, the banjo at age 10, and the other instruments such as the dobro, mandolin and other acoustic instruments followed. In school, Emily was part of the orchestra.
