Final Fantasy VIII was a "controversial" Final Fantasy because of its strange gameplay. It featured the Junctioning system, which is extremely confusing the first couple times you play the game until you get the hang of it. |
| Although it was "controversial", it was praised for its beautiful designs and backgrounds. It was also complimented on the fact that had the first Life-Size characters in the whole series. | 
This is Seifer, one of Squall's fellow trainees until he met Sorceress Edea. |
This is Quistis, Squall's instructor and friend. |
The game began when Squall, a trainee at an elite military school called "Balamb Garden". He and several of his friends were training to be "SeeDs" the special forces of the Gardens. |

Squall soon became a SeeD along with his best friends, Zell and Selphie.
The three of them went on their first mission and Squall met a young
Galbadian rebel named Rinoa, there wasn't immediate chemistry, but they
fell in love and Final Fantasy VIII formed a beautiful and exciting love
story.
