Patrick Roy was one of the games
most dominant goalies this past year. He currently plays for the
Colorado Avalanche. He was ranked first in Goals
Against Average (1.94), second in Save Percentage (.925), seventh in wins
(32), and first in shutouts (9). Roy also is in the running for the Hart
Trophy which is the league MVP. Roy plays one of the most common
styles of goalie today, the butterfly style. It involves dropping to
the ice to make the save.

| The goalie with
probably the best form in the NHL is Martin Brodeur. He plays the
butterfly style of goaltending. Martin Brodeur, the goalie for the
New Jersey Devils, was the fifth best goalie this past season. He
was ranked seventh in Goals Against Average (2.15), second in wins (38),
and tied for seventeenth in shutouts (4).

Curtis Joseph is the
goalie for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also played on Team Canada in the
Olympics. CUJO did not put up the best stats this past year but he got the
Maple Leafs the fourth seed in the playoffs. He was ranked twelfth in
Goals Against Average (2.23), seventeenth in wins (29), and in shutouts
(4).

| Jose Theodore
was also one of the best goalies this past year. He is the goalie for the
Montreal Canadiens. He is in the running for the Hart Trophy. He was
ranked fourth in Goals Against Average (2.11), first in Save Percentage
(.931), and second in shutouts (7). Jose Theodore is the main reason the
Montreal Canadiens made the playoffs.

Probably the toughest
goalie in the NHL is Tommy Salo. He is known not to back down when a
scrum is going on in front of his net. He plays for the Edmonton Oilers
and he played for Team Sweden in
the Olympics this past year. He was tenth in Goals Against Average (2.22),
twelfth in Save Percentage (.913), and seventh in shutouts (6).
