The Flag of Australia

The Flag of Australia is red, white, and blue. The British Union flag is a the top representing the link with Great Britain. The 5 stars on the right represent the Southern Cross constellation The larger star is known as the Commonwealth Star. Five of the Six stars have seven points. The seven points stand for Australia's six states and one territory.

As you can see, Australian money comes in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 dollar bills. Two Types of bills are in circulation: old paper bills (which are still legal tender) and plasticized bills in similar color.  Also, 1 US Dollar = 1.19 Australian Dollar. 

Coins

Coins currently in use in Australia are 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, A1$, and A2$. There are several different 50c coins in circulation; but they have different commemorative images on the face.

Australia produces most of the worlds opals, and Australian stones are considered of a particularly fine quality.  You can buy either 'white', or the more expensive 'black' opals, unset or made up into beautiful jewelry.
