| It all began in August 1995 with all
the pieces together five guys were together to make a band. But there was
one thing missing they didn't have a band name. They were brainstorming
for weeks trying to come up with possibilities, but with the help of
Justin Timberlake's mother they came up with a name. She had an idea to
commenting "in sync," she suggested "Nsync" using to
last letter of their first names: Justin (N), Chris (S), Joey (Y), Lansten
the nickname Lance (N) and JC (C). |

The groups diversity is perhaps it's
greatest strength, and each member makes his own contribution to the
now-popular *Nsync sound. Each member of the group Influences his own
musical career, from Joey's love of rock 'n' roll groups such as Frankie
Lyman the teenagers and the temptations to Lance's preference for Garth
Brooks and country sounds to Justin's inspiration of Stevie Wonder's soul-
blended styles mixed with a little hip-hop energy. |
| Chris describes *Nsync's
sound as "purely original. It's pop with an R&B twist. We take a
lot of up- tempo songs and put harmonies behind them. With the help of the
Mickey Mouse club cameraman, the boys made a promotion video. their first
attempt at a video was rough, according to Chris. They did it at the last
minute, but it was all done by them printing the posters, choosing the
outfits, the song order, the choreography everything. It was alot of work
for them |

In 1996 the video caught
the attention of noted music impresario Lou Pearlman and his partner,
Johnny Wright who made New Kids on the block a rage who also managed the
Backstreet Boys |
| Comparing * Nsync and The
Backstreet Boys was inevitable especially when they heard both bands were
out. *Nsync was out not to copy anyone they were just out to have fun and
sing. |

 |
The band put their group
together six months before they met Johnny. The band didn't even know who
The Backstreet Boys were. |
