Hello Kitty, the adorable cat we all (or almost all) know and love. Originating in the 1970's, Hello Kitty stayed popular throughout the 80's, 90's, and is still very common today. During the 1980's, Hello Kitty even appeared on her own Saturday morning cartoon! |

Hello Kitty was introduced in 1974. Hello Kitty is the main character (hence the name) of the Hello Kitty series. "Hello Kitty was born on November 1st and she lives in London, England with her parents and her twin sister, Mimmy. These third graders have lots of friends at school with whom they share many adventures. Her hobbies include traveling, music, reading, eating yummy cookies her sister Mimmy bakes, and best of all making new friends. As Hello Kitty always says, you can never have too many friends." |

Introduced in 1987, Keroppi has been a favorite of many from the beginning. "Keroppi was born on July 10th. He lives with his brother, sister and parents in a big house on the edge of Donut Pond, the largest and bluest pond around. Keroppi and his friends share his love for playing games, especially baseball and boomerangs. But most often he is seen with his little snail friend, Den Den, always tagging along and usually a little behind." |

Pochacco, the soccer playing dog, was introduced in 1989. "Pochacco is the most popular purebred in the neighborhood. This sports-minded pup is the best three-on-three basketball player on the playground and a not so shabby soccer goalie too. He's got a few quirks; how many vegetarian canines do you know? Carrots rank high on Pochacco's list of favorite foods but banana ice cream is his all time favorite! He is a leap year pup, celebrating his birthday on February 29th." |

One of the newest characters added is Spottie Dottie, who joined the group in 1990. "Spottie Dottie is a stylish fashion expert living in one of the worlds great fashion capitals, New York City. Her dad, formerly chief fire dog with the city fire department, taught her that helping people is the most rewarding part of life. She usually wears a pink bow, but it is really just a question what looks best with her outfit! Spottie Dottie celebrates her birthday on March 21st." |
