Biography: Kevin Garnett made the leap from High School to the Pro's. Kevin Garnett was named to a couple special awards and titles. In 1995, Kevin Garnett [a.k.a. KG] was named National High School Player of the Year by USA Today. He was named to the Parade Magazine All-American First Team. Another big award for him was being named Mr. Basketball for the state of Illinois after averaging 25 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 blocks while shooting .666 from the field. He was also named Mr. Basketball for the state of South Carolina in his junior year at Farragut Academy. His last most prestigious award before he went to the NBA was being named most outstanding player in the 1995 McDonald's All-America Game. In that game he registered 18 points, while grabbing 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocked shots. Soon after he graduated from Farragut Academy he declared himself eligible for the NBA draft. He was then snatched up quick in the 5th round by the Timberwolves.

Biography: Vince Carter went to high school at Mainland High School. He had man awards in High School to prepare him for College Basketball and the Pro's. He was USA Today, Parade Magazine and McDonald's All-America and was voted Florida's 1995 Basketball Player of The Year. Vince was voted USA Junior National Team where he played in the World Championships. Later after that he graduated the Mainland High School in 1995 with Honors. He was then selected by The North Carolina Tar Heels in 1995 through 1998. During this year he averaged 15.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game and led the ACC with a filed goal percentage of .590, including marks of 18.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg and .590 in the NCAA Tournament During his play with the Heels, he won the award for leading stats for 2 consecutive years. In addition, he earned best field goal percentage and the defensive player of the year award. Vince helped the Tar Heels make it to the final four in 1997 and 1998. In Both of these games, he was the leading scorer. His outstanding college play propelled him to 5 finalists for the prestigious "John Wooden Award" and the National Player of the year award. Later that year, he was picked 5th overall by the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Draft. |

Position: Forward Born: August 23, 1978 Jersey Number: 8 High School: Lower Marion College: None [Went from High School to the Pro's] Education: High School Diploma Nicknames: Kobe Biography: Kobe Bryant also made the giant leap from High School to the Pro's. But before that, Kobe Bryant won many awards and titles that opened his world up to the NBA. Before he went to the NBA had had already won a hand-full of prestigious titles. One of these was the All-Time leading scorer in South Eastern Pa, with 2,883 points. These amount of points beat out NBA Legend and Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain. As a senior, Bryant was selected by USA Today and Parade Magazine as the National High School Player of the Year. He was also Naismith player of the year, Gatorade Circle of Champions High School Player of the year and to the McDonald's All-American Team. His last award was the most Outstanding Player in Prestigious Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach where he lead his team, Lower Marion, to the title. Kobe Bryant was then drafted by the Charlotte Hornets. He was the 13th pick in the draft. Later, he was traded to the Lakers where he remains today. |
