Above you see Adolph Hitler. He was the dictator of Germany when they were under Nazi rule. He was the leader of all of the killings of the Jews and the other people he kill while he was doing the Holocost which was when he looked for all the Jews and caltholics. The reason he called it Kristlenachet was because he broke a lot of glass and it looked like it was raining crystals. He believed that Germany should have more land than it really did.
The Battle of Normandy wasn't just at the beaches, no it went all the way to the Rhine which is the river that separates Germany from France. In France there is a way of separating fields and what they do is plant bushes. The bushes grow real close together so it proved where land ended. When the Battles came close to these hedgerows, the men took cover from fire in them. Both the Germans and the Americans took cover in these.
Here is a mortar man. The mortar men were people who shot short range artillery at the advancing infantry men. The morter goes farther than a hand grenade which can go at most 40 feet. the mortar can go far beyond that up to about 150 feet. It all depends on how shot or tall the angle of the barrel is.
