Bichon Frise means "curly lapdog" and it is in the non-sporting group. It was first bred in Spain and in the Mediterranean areas. It soon became a favorite among royalty in France in the late 1600's. It is 8-12 in. (20-30cm.) at the shoulder and weighs about 10-18 pounds depending on size. |

It has a thick, silky coat that is loosely curled. The color of the coat is solid white although cream, apricot, or gray sometimes appears on the ears. The Bichon has black eyes, eye rims, lips, footpads and nose. This dog has the habit of smiling by pulling back it's lips and letting it's teeth show through. |
