John Winston Lennon was born , on October 9, 1940 , to Fred and Julia Lennon in a maternity hospital in Liverpool. John's father hardly spent time home because he was a steward on an ocean liner. When John was 3 his parents divorced and he was sent to live with his Aunt Mimi and Uncle George. His mother did this because she thought that they could provide John with a better life. At one time , Fred came to take John on a short trip to Blackpool , where he made plans to migrate to New Zealand. Unfortunately for Fred , Julia found out and took John back to his Aunt's house. Even though John lived with his aunt and uncle his mother was close by. John was a very disruptive in school and was more interested in learning music than getting an education. His mother and aunt influenced his music liking. His Aunt Mimi bought him his first guitar, John's mother taught him how to play the guitar. At age 15 John lost his Uncle George. Two years later John's mother was hit by a car and died. In 1955 he started the band the Blackjacks which later became the Quarrymen. |

James Paul McCartney was born June 16, 1942 at Walton General Hospital in Liverpool , England to James and Mary McCartney. Paul's father was a cotton sales man and his mother was a mid wife. Paul had a brother named Michael who was 2 years younger than Paul. When Paul was 13 his family moved to Allerton. At age 14 when Paul was away at Boy Scout Camp his mother Mary passed away of breast cancer. Paul's family was big with music. His father was a jazz musician at night with Jim Mac's Jazz band. Paul was very smart and did very well in school. Paul's dad bought him his first guitar and encouraged him to play music. Paul had trouble playing the guitar then he discovered he was left - handed at the guitar while right - handed at everything else. Paul's father returned the guitar and had it strung the other way. After that , Paul learned how to play songs quickly. Paul was invited to hear the Quarrymen perform on July 6, 1957. After Paul heard the group perform he picked up his guitar and started to play. John was impressed and invited Paul to play for their band. |

George Harold Harrison was born on February 25, 1943 to Harry and Louise Harrison , which makes him the youngest of the 4 Beatles. His family consisted of his father , a bus driver , his mother , a house wife , two brothers Harold Jr. and Peter , and a sister Louise. George's interest in the guitar came about when his mother came across drawings of guitar on George's school books. His mother eventually bought George a second hand guitar. Since the age of 13 George would practice the guitar until his fingers would start to bleed. George taught himself how to play the guitar. George attended Dovedale Primary School , and was two grades behind John. George then attended the Liverpool Institute and was one year behind Paul. Paul and George took the bus to school together. They both found out that they had some things in common. Paul had introduced George to the Quarrymen at age 14 , but he was not old enough to play. Things changed at age 15 the Quarrymen offered George to play in their band. |

Richard Starkey was born on July 7, 1940 to , Richard and Elise Starkey. His father left when he was three. After his parents divorced he never saw his father. Ringo spent a lot of time at his grandmother's house from his father's side of the family. Ringo's mother had trouble taking care of him , and went back to work right away after he went back to school. At age 6 Ringo developed appendicitis. Ringo had two operations. Ringo was in the hospital for a little over a year. When he was 7 years old he was released from the hospital and went back to school. He was so behind , he couldn't read or write. When Ringo was eleven his mother started to date Harry Graves , Ringo got along with Harry. Elise and Harry got married on April 17, 1953. When Ringo was thirteen he came down with a second illness. It stared as a cold but became pleurisy. He was in the hospital for two years. Ringo started playing the drums in the hospital band. When Ringo was 18 years old Harry his stepfather bought him his first drum set. Ringo was an engineer during the day and a drummer at night. Ringo was with many bands , but before the Beatles he played with Rory Storm and with Tony Sheridan. |
