* The winning team must have a two point advantage

* The teams change sides after each game

* Most matches are the best of 3 or 5

* The ball may be played by any part of the body above (and including) the waist

* An illegal play is called when the ball is held or comes to rest

* The server may serve from anywhere behind the end line

* A foot fault is called if the server steps over the end line

* If the ball touches the net on the serve,  the other team gets the ball

* On the serve, if the ball strikes an object overhead and goes over the net, it is a sideout

* The ball is to be rolled under the net to the other side when a sideout is called
