Patrick Roy entered the league in 1984 the sane year as Mario Lemieux. He played only one game his rookie year and as a matter of fact won the game.  He grew up in Canada.  He always wanted to be a goalie but there was one point in his life he wanted to be a defensemen.  When Montreal drafted him they knew he would be a success.

He came into the NHL as a rookie with the talent but wasn't showing it at first.  He only played 20 min in one game but in that time period he didn't let in any goals and he got the win.  Later in his career he became one of the most premier goalies of the league and still is.
He won many Stanley cups with Montreal but in 1995-1996 he went to the Colorado Avalanche.  The team which is now Colorado was once Quebec.  Their team has made the playoffs every year since they moved to Colorado. In the 00-01 season they won the Stanley cup for the first year in the Colorado franchise.

He is doing well this year and has recorded his 500th win.  Colorado is also doing well thanks to his great goaltending.  They are in the top of there conference and are on the way to getting into the playoffs for the 6th straight year. He is probably going to retire after a few more seasons in the NHL. When he does he will go out as one of the top goalies who have ever stepped foot in an NHL crease to play an NHL game.
