In order to participate in the sport of gymnastics, especially the floor, you need to build your muscles and have much endurance.  When you fall, you need to be able to get up and try again until you can grasp it.  Being graceful is just as important as performing the different techniques  when being judged on the floor. Getting a score even close to a perfect ten is almost impossible, however Nadia Comenci received the first ten while competing in the Olympics.

The series of skills performed on the floor takes a long amount of time and skill to learn and perfect.  When landing, it is important to land in the corners and not to step out of bounds.  That can deduct a tenth of a point of your score.
The many skills that are performed on floor are hard to learn, yet they are manageable with practice. The floor itself is built with springs in it to give the gymnast some bounce.
