The Trumpet is a beautiful, motivating instrument.  It produces a vibrant sound, and is difficult to completely master.  It has changed much over the years, but see my history page for that.  Trumpets are produced by many manufacturers. The Trumpet shown above is a professional Lazer Trumpet.  As far as I know, Lazers are only made as professionals.  Professional is the third skill level of playing.  Below it are beginner and intermediate models.  Beginner models are pretty much self-explanatory, and intermediate models are for those that are still unsure of there commitment to the trumpet.  Professional horns are for those who know that they wish to pursue the trumpet for the rest of their lives.

The trumpet is one of the higher registered instruments in the brass family, and if practiced, can shame the range of a clarinet.  To play, one buzzes his/her lips in the mouthpiece while forcing air through the instrument.  For a while, the lips will be sore after playing for a strenuous period.
