The low brass instruments are the heart of a band.  They emphasize the percussion's beat, and compliment the melody.  Although much more expensive and larger, a band must have instruments like these.  Their sound rumbles throughout the auditorium.  This instrument, shown above, is a beautiful Euphonium.  Euphoniums are not quite as low as Tubas, and deeper than Baritones.  These are basic low instruments.  

 

    In different types or styles of music, different instruments are needed.  And for better players, better instruments are needed.  The skill levels are the same as trumpets (although, considering expenses, increasing a skill level should be carefully considered on a low instrument), but are about 3-5 times more expensive.  Instrument quality varies from the brand, as some brands excel in one type of instrument, and not in another.
