The positions that are used on a soccer field are different for every team. The team has the choice of using whatever line-up they want.

The main positions in soccer are Forward, Midfield, Defense and the Goalkeeper.

FORWARD- The forward position is usually the people that have the greatest chance of scoring. Their job is mainly to score. Their job involves sprinting to get a pass or a cross and going to goal. It would definitely help forwards to know a lot of moves to get around defenders.

MIDFIELD- The midfield position is used to assist the forwards and defenders. There is usually a lot of running in the forward area, because you have to run up to help the forwards, and then have to quickly come back to help the defenders.

DEFENDER- The defender is the position that is usually closest to the goalkeeper. Their job is to keep the other team from taking shots. This job involves a lot and quick moving feet and being able to turn quickly.

GOALKEEPER- The goalkeeper's job is to block shots from going into the goal. Keepers have to have very quick reflexes, and the taller and bigger the better for this position. Goalies don't have to run that much, but they still have to be in top shape.
