Appaloosa

   The Appaloosa is a recognized breed in the U.S.A and Canada.  In other places it is considered a pony type because of its coat patterns.  It was bred in Oregon by the Nez Perce Indians.  They were almost wiped out when the Indians were kicked out of there land.  The Appaloosa is used for hunting, endurance riding, and mostly western pleasure riding.  This horse is bred to work hard, is sensible, and a typical pony used to round up cattle.  

Arabian

   The Arabian, also known as the Arab, is the oldest pure breed.  The Arab blood is the main blood in the Thoroughbred horse.  The Arabian has brought a lot of good qualities to other horses.  It is used for racing, and full range equestrian sports.  They are also great at long distances or endurance riding.  Another thing they are great at is shows weather it's in hand or under saddle.  They are great at all these but they are mostly used for out crossing other breeds. 

  Andalucian

The Andalucian is an ancient breed from southern Spain.  It is a descendant from a horse that was highly valued by the Romans.  This breed had originated in in southern Spain.  This horse was introduced in the 18th century.  The Andalucian is used for high class dressage, and a parade horse.  also jumping and in the bullring.  This horse is a striking horse, very active, and carries itself very well.  It has really nice gates, it's supple, athletic, spirited, and gentle.   

Barbary 

  The Barb is an ancient North African Desert  Breed.  It has a huge influence over other breeds.  This horse can be ridden in north Africa, and can survive harsh conditions.  It is also is a good jumper, and a good sports horse.  This horse is a tough horse, and it can stand extreme heat, and drought conditions.  The Barb is very fast over short distances, and has great stamina over long distance.  This horse can stand small portions of food, and little attention.  this horse is sound, and agile.        

 
Hanoverian 

   The Hanoverian is a warmblood.  This horse is one of the best show jumpers, and dressage in the world.  It was originally bred for pulling, and military work, but they soon became in a large sporting demand.  The Hanoverian is today used for top-class show jumping, and dressage.  They are also used for driving events, or they are just  nice  as trail horse.  This horse has a good, honest temperament, and have  natural, rhythmic paces.  these horses have an energetic, and long stride      

Pinto

   The Pinto, also known as the Calico horse, or Paint, descended from the Spanish horse of the 16th century.  A Pinto is more of a color than a breed.  There are two distinct Pinto color patterns the Overo: which has a dark base and white patches, or the Tobiano: which is a white base coat with dark patches.  The Pinto was used by the Indians for their colors, but now they are used for general riding, and cowboy displays.  Pintos are good all around riding horses, they are active, and agile.  They have smooth easy paces.        

  Palomino

   Palominos were the favorites amongst the cowboys.  They had escaped the Spanish settlers and found herds of wild mustangs to run with, then the cowboys would ride out to look for new horses and they would often choose the Palominos.  The Palomino has a golden coat with a cream main, and tail.  Palominos are more commonly quarter horses in the U.S.A. but thy can be other breeds.  The breeds vary from Country to Country.

Quarter Horse

   The American Quarter horse was the first horse developed in America.  This horse was crossed with the Thorough Bred and the result was a very fast race horse.  The settlers had adopted this horse and it could run up till a quarter mile.  Therefore they called it a Quarter Miler which is today the Quarter horse.  This horse is used for ranching and cutting out cattle.  The quarter horse is a western all purpose horse, such as, barrel racing, steer roping, and rodeo shows.  the Quarter horse is  Fast, strong, intelligent, and kind.    

 
   Trakehner

    The Trakehner is one of the oldest warm blood breeds, and most elegant.  These horses were first bred to supply the army and the royal stables.  The Trakehner is used for famous all-round  shows, show jumping, dressage, and three day events.  It's Character is believed to improve many breeds of horses. These horses are the finest warm bloods it's nicely shaped with an alert expressions.  

 
Thorough Bred

      The Thorough Bred was created by a small group of English men in the late 17th century.  Around this time racing was extremely fashionable.  This horse was bred in search for a faster horse.  The Thorough Bred is used for racing, flat racing, and best bred.  The characteristics in this horse is that they are late to mature, nervous, and excitable.  Also their movement is low, and long, they are courageous, bold, enjoy, galloping, jump well, and respond well to kindness.
