Mario Lemieux

Mario Lemieux is one of the best players to ever play in the NHL.  He is currently the owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins.  He is the only player ever to be a player and the owner of the same team.  Lemieux made a comeback to the NHL in 2000 after retiring in 1997.  His comeback helped the Pens go to the Conference Finals in 2000-01.  

Alexei Kovalev

Alexei Kovalev is an amazing player to watch.  His signature wrist shot beats goalies every time.  After being traded to the Pens in the 1998-99 season, Kovalev did not make an immediate impact.  In his first season with the Pens, he scored 46 points in 63 games.  In the 2000-01 season, Kovalev scored his career best 96 points in 79 games.  

Martin Straka

Martin Straka is one of the smallest players in the league.  Despite his size, he can skate with some of the best players.  Straka is also one of the fastest players in the league.  Straka emerged as one of the Penguins star players in the 1998-99 season.  That year he also made his first All -Star game.  In 2000-01, he helped the Pens go to the Conference Finals.

Robert Lang

Robert Lang is a key player on the Penguins.  He is one of the team's best centers.  Lang uses his size and strength to keep the puck away from defenders.  After being claimed off waivers in 1997, Lang scored 22 points in 51 games.  He improved each year and in the 2000-01 season he scored a career high 80 points.  

Johan Hedberg

Johan Hedberg is a very important player on the Penguins.  His breakthrough year in 2000-01 helped the Pens go to the Eastern Conference Finals.  When Hedberg came to Pittsburgh, he got the nickname "Moose" for his blue moose helmet.  He also has the nickname "Yo-Yo" for his butterfly style of playing.
