Different Kinds

 When people think of Panda Bears they usually think of big black and white bears. Many never think that a panda bear could be very similar looking to a fox. This species is known as Red Panda. The large black and white bear is known as a Giant Panda. 
Giant Panda

  The Giant Panda is the symbol for China. It has black circles around its eyes and ears. The arms and legs of the Giant Panda are  also black and the rest of their bodies is white. Many don't realize this, but the Giant Panda dose have a tail, however it is short and stubby. The panda spends it day eating and sleeping. It can eat for up to 14 hours a day and nap between 2 and 4 hours at a time. The Giant Panda is about 6 feet tall and weight between 180 and 280 pounds. The Giant panda also  has an opposable thumb to help it eat the bamboo. 

 

 

 Red Panda

 

 The red panda is a medium sized animal with think, rusty clolored fur. Its tail is long and bushy with ginger and chocolate colored rings. The tail length is usually between 280-485 mm. The red panda weight about 25 pounds. Scientist agree that this animals is more related to the raccoon family. Female red pandas can eat approximately 200,000 leaves in one day. However the red panda can not eat the bamboo stems. The red panda can live 17 years or more when in captivity, but when the wild their life span is drastically reduce to anywhere between 8-10 years.
