Porto Rico was discovered by Columbus in 1493 and Spanish fortifications were begun in 1533. American troops landed there in 1898 during the Spanish-American war and in the same year, Puerto Rico was ceded to the United States by the Treaty of Paris. The name Porto Rico was officially changed to Puerto Rico in 1932 and in 1948, the governorship was made the elective office.
Puerto Rico has a lot to offer. Scuba diving is one of those things. Scuba diving is a big attraction there. There are so much marine life, exotic fish, and tons of gorgeous coral reef. Visiting Puerto Rico is like visiting a little peace of heaven. It's a paradise. Tons of sun, lots of activities to do with friends or family. It truly is one of the most amazing countries.
