Us, that of the black race living a great life in our home, Africa. All of a sudden here they come white men. They came over to Africa to take us to America to be slaves, pick there cotton, do the chores, live on plantation, Not Be Free. We had to do everything they told us. We were beaten even killed, to them, the slave owners, we were just one person in a million. Unless we did what we were told when we were told to do it we were given severe punishments. Until they came, Civil right leaders. They were the one, the ones that couldn't take it anymore, the ones who wanted freedom for ever black man women and child.
Then there was Harriet Tubman an extraordinary
women. She began leading
black slaves to a place called the under ground railroad. This was a
series of secret roads and paths that led blacks to the north to be free,
although it was a long journey they went. It was called the underground railroad because it was a secret. Men and women who lived
in homes that believed in freedom and equality for blacks let Harriet into their
homes fed her and gave her shelter. There were several ransoms for her.
