Pharaohs were the most important part of the Ancient Egyptian history.  This is for an enormous amount of reasons.  well, not really.  Anyway, it was basically like this; if you had a bad pharaoh, then you had a bad time in Egypt.  If you had a good pharaoh, then Egypt lived up to the standard that most people think of it.

"Grand and Magnificent"

But believe me, Egypt definitely wasn't always like that.

Matter of fact, Egypt went through a whole lot of really slummy times.

The time periods of  Egypt are divided into dynasties.  The dynasties had a bunch of pharaohs it.

In a dynasty, you can have as few as 1 to 2 pharaohs in a dynasty.  But, you can also have up to 20 or 30 pharaohs.  So basically, dynasties lasted for a long period of time.

Some of the dynasties with 20 or more pharaohs could be as long as one of the dynasties with two or three ruling pharaohs.  Because, some pharaohs ruled for 1-5 years.  Where some ruled from 5-60 years!
Without the pharaohs, Ancient Egypt would have never existed as we know it as I stated before.
First of all, Egypt already has gone through some pretty rotten times already.

One example of these times is the 21'st Dynasty.

During this period, the Kingdom went through Pharaohs like toilet paper.

Meaning simply, that the pharaohs lasted only a few weeks or so, sometimes a month.  But, that happened only a few times.

The government was very, very, very unstable during these times.  Well, by this time you should say.

Anyway, if there was even the simplest upheaval, the pharaoh was thrown from his or her throne,* and the throne usually stayed empty for a while, until the government found some dummy to put on the throne.  By now, there wasn't really one major kingdom of Egypt, upper and lower Egypt were both already divided into small and unruly clans.  Which had existed before the first dynasty.

Ever since the 17th dynasty, the government of Egypt had been slowly falling apart.
