-There is a long archery season for deer, staring near the beginning of October and ending in Mid November.  This is a good time to hunt because the deer and not pressured and are still predictable in the habits.  During this time deer tend to feed in the mornings and evenings, and during the day are bedded down.

-There is a three day muzzleloader season for doe in Mid October.  Hunters under sixteen can use a center fire rifle during this hunt.  This is a new season, whose goal is to lower the number of does that are in the woods during the gun season, making it healthier for deer during the winter.

-There is a two week long deer season starting the Monday after Thanksgiving. This has traditionally been buck season, but this year hunters can shoot a buck or a doe if they have the proper tags.  This was introduced to help lower the the amount of does in the deer herd.  Pennsylvania has a high doe to buck ratio.  This is a good time to either sit in a tree-stand, as the other hunters push the deer towards you.  It pays to hang a stand near the thickest cover you can find because big bucks will head to the thickest cover they can find when the shooting starts on opening day.  Come opening day 1 million deer hunters will pursue America's number one big game animal, the Whitetail deer.  During this season Pennsylvania's deer hunters take more deer than any other state.

--There is a late archery and muzzleloader season starting the day after Christmas.  This is a nice time to hunt because there are few hunters in the woods and with the snow on the ground the deer are easy to see.  Since the gun season is over, the deer will start to relax and return to their normal habits.  However, since lots of deer were taken during the regular season, their are fewer deer in the woods.

*There is no deer hunting on Sundays.  The only hunting allowed on Sunday is coyote hunting.
