The Mitsubishi Eclipse started out in 1989.  But the first model year was not until 1990.  It came off of the assembly line with two sisters, the Eagle Talon and the Plymouth Laser.  The Plymouth Laser was dropped and now there are only two cars in production.  In 1990 the Eclipse was the only turbocharged four wheel drive car.  It was one of the fastest cars at that time.  In 1992 there were only minor changes to the Eclipse.  Its headlights were no longer concealed and the car was smoothed out.  The next major change came in 1995, the Eclipse was totally redesigned.  The eclipse now had airbags and 210 horsepower.  The new Eclipse was more luxurious than before.
The next addition was in 1996, when after much research Mitsubishi introduced the Eclipse Spyder GS and a turbocharged Spyder GS-T.  Also known as the convertible Eclipse.  The Spyder also now had a 2.4 liter engine rather than a 2.0 liter engine. In 1997 there was little changes, the most noticeable was the rear spoilers.  The other changes to this model were fog lamps and 1 inch larger rims and tires.
