Beagles are a gentle breed of dog. If you are looking for a dog, a beagle is a good choice especially if you have children. This  dog is a hunter and it's preference is rabbits, squirrels, and deer. Even though this dog hunts they are very affectionate and loving, and their big, brown eyes seem to beg for attention.

The Beagle is a medium size dog from Great Britain. These dogs have smooth coats that are usually white, black, and tan. They have slightly domed heads, drooping ears, and a straighter, square-cut muzzle, as well as sloping shoulders, muscular hips and thighs, and a short, slightly curved tail. Beagles generally have dark brown to hazel eyes and a short, dense, weatherproof coat. This unique breed is bold, has great stamina, and is alert, without being timid or aggressive.

The average beagle stands thirteen to sixteen inches high and weighs twenty to twenty-five pounds. These dogs live to be twelve to fifteen years of age.

If you already have a beagle, you know they need moderate exercise, and that they absolutely love children, and will play with them for hours at a time.

Even though beagles shed only a little, they are not hypoallergenic. The average food cost is twenty-five dollars. Each day beagles require thirty-five minutes of exercise because of their high indoor energy level.

As you train a beagle, you will notice that they are somewhat stubborn in their actions, but with work, they will be excellent at tricks and obedience. Even though beagles do not shed much, they still need groomed. All they need is to be brushed with a firm bristle brush about twice each week.

If you are looking for a dog, a beagle is a good choice because they are good with children, they are not high-maintenance , and they are a pleasant dog to be around.
