A grand slam is a major tournament in tennis. If you win one of these tournaments it is a great accomplishment. To win all four grand slams is nearly impossible. Few people have done this. The information below will tell you about each grand slam.

The Australian Open

  This tournament takes place at Flinders Park in Melbourne, Australia. It takes place in January. This tournament is played on grass courts. The men's title at the Australian Open is held by Andre Agassi and the women's title is held by Jennifer Capriati.

Wimbledon

      Also known as the All-England Championships. This tournament is played on grass courts. It is usually held in late June early July at the All-England Lawn Tennis Club. The men's title at Wimbledon is currently held by Goran Ivanisevic and the women's title is held by Venus Williams.

The French Open

   The French Open is played in late May or early June. It is played on clay courts at the Stade Roland-Garros. This title is currently held by Gustavo Kuerten for the men and Jennifer Capriati for the women.

The U.S. Open

   This tournament is played toward the end of summer. It is played on hard courts at the USTA's National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. The men's title is held by Llyton Hewitt and the women's title is held by Venus Williams.
