A Message from the Principal

Welcome to the Bethel Park High School web page. It is a pleasure to provide you with important information as it relates to the High School. Please continue to rely on this web site as well as EdLine for school information and updates on your son/daughter’s progress. In the event of a major news flash, besides utilizing the web page and district news letter, we will contact you via email or phone by the use of the Alert Now System.

We are excited to begin another fantastic school year. To begin the school year, during our back-to-school student grade level assemblies, we share with the students the vision of the high school. This vision is all about “getting students ready for life after high school.” With this thinking, we discuss two academic goals and one school involvement goal that we want the students to embrace.   Our teaching staff helped to create the goals and work to achieve them in the classroom throughout the year.

In the past, our students have excelled in many venues. In the area of state testing, our students continue to work towards total proficiency. The PSSA exams are the current measure for adequate yearly progress (AYP) as it relates to the federal government “No Child Left Behind Act.” In the near future, our students will be required to pass a final exit exam, the Keystone Exams, in order to graduate. In addition to student performance on state testing, our students have excelled in the classroom through the challenge of rigorous courses. We expect students to stretch their academic level by taking the next higher level course. One tool for assistance is the use of technology. We continue to add technology to the classroom to support the notion of getting students ready for life after high school.

Outside the classroom, we believe that a well-rounded and connected student is involved in co-curricular activities. We provide a plethora of activities for students to select that right fit. Research proves that if a student is involved in activities, the overall school success increases, as well as school pride and emotional wellness. Certainly, we offer almost every high school sport under the sun. Our athletic teams have been second to none, providing exciting matches and thrilling victories in Section, WPIAL, State and National competitions. In addition to sports, we have many clubs for enjoyment and some that offer student community service opportunities. There is something available for everyone.

Finally, our high school administration, guidance office and teaching staff are here to serve you and your son/daughter. Please, by all means, don’t hesitate to contact us if we may be assistance in any way. We subscribe to an “open door” policy and welcome the communication. Congratulations to our students and we wish them the best for this coming school year and future endeavors.

Sincerely,
Dr. J
