Help Bethel Park Win the Chick-Fil-A-Challenge!
Bethel Park is competing against Upper St. Clair in this year's Chick-Fil-A
Challenge. When you place your order at the Route 19 Chick-Fil-A
between Monday, January 25 and Monday, February 1, please tell the
cashier to place your register receipt in the Bethel Park bucket. At
the end of the competition, the school with the largest register receipt
totals will receive a $1,000 check at the half time of the Tuesday, February
2 BP/USC Boys Basketball Game at Bethel Park. Thanks for your support!

ICE HOCKEY

The Third Annual Outdoor Classic
will be held on Friday, February
5 at 8:30 PM at the South Park Ice Rink, as the Hawks take on Canon-McMillan.
Proceeds benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Tickets
are $5 and can be purchased daily in the Athletic Office from 8:30 to 11:30
AM and 12:30 to 2:30 PM. Tickets can also be purchased at the game. Go Hawks!

SPRING SPORTS PHYSICALS If you are
planning to participate in a Spring Sport and have not had a
Pre-Participation Physical, you can do so on Saturday, February 13 from 9 to
11 AM at AGH Human Motion on Ft. Couch Road for a cost of $10.
Appointments must be scheduled by calling 1-877-284-2000. Please click

BOYS TENNIS Any boys who are
interested in trying out for the BPHS Boys Tennis Team in the spring should
plan to attend an informational meeting on Friday, January 29
immediately after school outside the Athletic Office in Building 6. |

BOYS GOLF Any boys in grades 8-11 who
are interested in trying out for the BPHS Boys Golf Teams in the fall can
attend open conditioning sessions, which will be held in the Building 5 Golf
Room, immediately after school on Mondays and Wednesdays from February 3
through February 24. Workouts will last until 4 PM. |

For the second consecutive year, Bethel Park High School received the WPIAL Sportsmanship Award, this time for sportsmanship shown during the
2008-2009 school year. The award was presented at Heinz Field on
Friday, November 27 during the WPIAL Championships! Congratulations to
everyone who displayed great sportsmanship! |

WRESTLING
- The team qualified for the WPIAL Team Championships and won the
Consolation Match in the Section Championships.
- The Team finished in Sixth Place at the Allegheny County Tournament.
Adam Lazenga won his weight class and Phil Kail finished in
second. Rob Heuler was third and Nick Bonaccorsi was
fourth.
- Nick Bonaccorsi, Adam Lazenga and Dylan Mogan were named
three of the top South area wrestlers in Class AAA by the Post Gazette.

- The Team finished in Third Place at the Eastern Area Tournament, with Adam Lazenga, Dylan Mogan and
Nick Bonaccorsi winning; Phil
Kail finishing in second; Martin Sams in third and Aaron Plopi in
fourth.
- Adam Lazenga was named the
Post Gazette Male High School
Athlete of the Week on January 22.
- Adam Lazenga was named WTAE-TV's Athlete of the Week on January
28.

- Leslee Keibler is ranked #1 in the WPIAL in the 200 yard
freestyle.

INDOOR TRACK
- Shakeil Carter and Margaux Krahe qualified for the Indoor
State Track Championships.
- Anna Carnegie, Julie Kolodziej, Hannah Saternos, Stevie Reilly,
Kelsey Metheny, Audrey Miller, Maria Touloumes, Ryan Sheatsley and
Ainesh Ravi qualified for the Tri-State Indoor Track Championships.

FOOTBALL
- Congratulations to the BPHS
Football Team who advanced to the WPIAL Semifinals. The team took
Woodland Hills into overtime in one of the most exciting games of the
season. Congratulations on a terrific season! We couldn't be
prouder!
- Congratulations to Adam Lazenga, who was named to the AAAA
All-State Football All-Star First Team, and to Bre Ford, who was
named All-State, Second Team.
- Congratulations to Bre Ford and Adam Lazenga, who were
named to the Post Gazette's Fabulous 22 Squad!
- Congratulations to Matt Bliss, Bre Ford and Adam Lazenga,
who were named to the Post Gazette South's Fabulous 22 Squad.
- Congratulations to Anthony Herko, Adam Lazenga, Bre Ford, Corey
Spegal, Jared Pratt, Nick Kwiatoski, Matt Bliss and Mike Vargo,
who were named to the Great Southern Conference All-Star Team.

who were named to the 2009 All-Playbook Football First Team.
- Bre Ford, Corey Spegal, Jared Pratt, Matt Bliss and Nick
Kwiatkoski were named to The Almanac's Football All-Star Team.
Adam Lazenga was named MVP. Anthony Herko, Mike Vargo,
Creighton Hottel, Alex Baroffio and Luke Olson were named
Honorable Mentions.

2AAA All-Star Team.
- Jacob Glotzbach, Evan Niedermeyer, Joe Schmitt, and Coach Dan
Glotzbach were named to the Varsity 2AA All-Star Team.
- Ethan Rupprecht, David Lee and Ian Cooney were named to
the JV All-Star Team.

SPORTS PHYSICAL EXAM INFO Physical exams must occur no earlier than June 1st for all sports in the upcoming school year. Students will have to do one of two things PRIOR to the first day of tryouts in order to satisfy the Physical requirement.
- IF the student has not had a physical AFTER June 1 they will need to have a complete examination and fill out the entire packet. See sample "INITIAL PHYSICAL PACKET" under the FORMS section of Athletic Handbook.
- IF the student had a physical to participate during the fall season in the current school year, they will only need to fill out the three sheets which include student information as well as a medical release that is signed by their parents and doctor. See sample "SUBSEQUENT SEASON PHYSICAL PACKET" under the FORMS section of the Athletic Handbook.
