BOYS VOLLEYBALL Matt Kapusta
was named to the WPIAL All-Star First Team. Congratulations to
Matt Kapusta, Joe Malone and Steve Manko, who were named to the
All-Section First Team, and to Brian Kretchun, Jared Marks and
Shane Dunay, who were named to the All-Section Second Team. |

TRACK Congratulations to the
following Section Champions:

Congratulations to the following Girls Track athletes who medaled at the
WPIAL Championships:
- Hillary Boxheimer -- 7th in the 3200 meters
- Julie Kolodziej -- 7th in the 300 hurdles
- Margaux Krahe -- 7th in the shot put.

BASEBALL Congratulations to senior baseball shortstop Jimmy Meyer, who
was selected to play in the WPIAL All-Star Game. Jimmy was also named
to the Post Gazette South's Baseball All-Star Team. Congratulations to
Jimmy Meyer and Andy Fossick, who were named to the Section 3
All-Star Team. Congratulations to
Nathan Fulkman, who received the fourth annual Edward Strall Varsity
Baseball Scholarship. |

SOFTBALL Congratulations to
Caitlin Brust, Brooke Tarasovich and Sarah Angeletti, who were
named to the Section 4 All-Star Team. Congratulations to Sarah
Angeletti and Brooke Tarasovich, who were named to The
Almanac's Softball All-Star Team. Stephanie Zur, Beth Anne
Swartzwelder, Jess Parinella, Caitlin Brust, Paula Valdisera and
Karen Powers were named Honorable Mentions. Julie Kolodziej, Carly
Schoenstein and Rachel Trunk were named Players to Watch. |

BOYS LACROSSE Congratulations to Lacrosse athletes Anthony Rusch and Brian
Meenan, who were named All-Americans. Tyler Henk, Brian Meenan
and Anthony Rusch were named three of the area's outstanding high
school lacrosse players by the Pittsburgh Lacrosse Foundation and the
Western Pennsylvania Lacrosse Coaches Association. Dan Owen was
named the Assistant Coach of the Year by the Pittsburgh Lacrosse Foundation
and the Western Pennsylvania Lacrosse Coaches Association. |

GIRLS LACROSSE Congratulations to
Haley Schemm, who was named to the All-Section First Team and a WPIAL
All-Star. Congratulations also go to Morgan Campbell, who
was named to the All-Section Second Team. |

SCHOLARSHIPS
Congratulations to the 31 BPHS senior scholar athletes, who have earned scholarships to continue their athletic careers next year in college. A reception was held for the athletes and their families, where Athletic Director Amy Scheuneman announced that on average 4% of a school's athletes will receive an athletic scholarship. At Bethel Park, 8% of our senior athletes have earned this distinction. Congratulations to all of our athletes. FENCING Congratulations to junior
Devon Verner, who earned his 200th career victory on June 10 and to
junior Kelsey Lauritzen, who earned her 100th career victory on June
10.
Coach Christopher Tobias is the second Fencing Coach in Western
Pennsylvania to reach 200 victories in interscholastic team competition.
The Girls Fencing Team finished the season with an undefeated record,
which is the fourth time in 12 years. The Boys Fencing Team
posted a 7-1 record for their fifth straight winning season. |

SPORTS PHYSICAL EXAM INFO Physical exams must occur no earlier than June 1st for all sports in the upcoming school year. Students will have to do one of two things PRIOR to the first day of tryouts in order to satisfy the Physical requirement.
- IF the student has not had a physical AFTER June 1 they will need to have a complete examination and fill out the entire packet. See sample "INITIAL PHYSICAL PACKET" under the FORMS section of Athletic Handbook.
- IF the student had a physical to participate during a previous season in the current school year, they will only need to fill out the three sheets which include student information as well as a medical release that is signed by their parents and doctor. See sample "SUBSEQUENT SEASON PHYSICAL PACKET" under the FORMS section of the Athletic Handbook.

The Athletic Department has arranged for students who are planning to
participate in a Fall Sport to have a Pre-Participation Physical on Saturday,
June 27 at AGH Human Motion Sports (59 Ft. Couch Road) between 8 AM and 12 PM at
a cost of $10. Appointments must be scheduled by calling 1-877-284-2000.
Parents may opt to have their own physician perform the physical, but you still
must use the proper forms.
