Remediation Requirements

Remediation Requirements

Placement of students in remedial classes is based on the following criteria:

  • Scoring below Proficient on Keystone State Assessment in any of the following subject areas: algebra, biology, and literature.

When there is a question regarding the appropriateness of placement in a remedial program based on the criteria above, the following may also have weight on the final placement decision:

  • Teacher recommendation
  • Additional testing
  • Data from previous years’ performance
  • Input from the IEP/IST/SAP team


Below State Assessment Support Placement

  • Those who are Basic or Below Basic List
  • Input from teacher the child would benefit from remediation
  • Non-Proficient
  • Prior Year State Assessment



Remediation: May/Will apply to algebra, biology and/or literature related to the Keystone Exams

Project Based Assessment (PBA): Beginning with the class of 2017, students that are not successful in passing the Keystone Exam after two attempts may enroll in the PBA in order to meet the requirements for graduation
