I’m Mrs. Melissa Kolling, the 5th grade Guidance Counselor. I started at Neil Armstrong Middle School in 2003 and I love being a school counselor! Prior to working at Neil Armstrong, I worked at East Allegheny School District as an Elementary Counselor K-6. Additionally, I have worked as a counselor at the high school and middle school level in the Chartiers Valley School District, and the elementary level at Brookline Elementary School.
I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Rehabilitation from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and my Masters of Education degree in School Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh. I hold my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and am also a certified Guidance Counselor for children in grades K-12.
I truly enjoy working with the students every day and am always excited to help the students work to their full potential. My personal goal as a school counselor is to provide a warm and safe environment where each person can learn to love who they are, and to facilitate those coping skills needed for everyday life. Each day is a new day. We want our students to know that we care about them as a person; that they are valued.
Hi! My name is Mrs. Stephanie Brookie and I am the 6th grade Guidance Counselor at Neil Armstrong Middle school. I started working at Neil Armstrong in 2010 and I love my job!
Prior to working at Neil Armstrong, I spent two years working as a Guidance Counselor at a cyber-school. I have also worked at the post-secondary level as an Academic Advisor at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Additionally, I have worked as a counselor at the high school level in Upper St. Clair, the middle school level in Fox Chapel and last but not least, the elementary level in the Pittsburgh Public School District.
I am a Nationally Certified Counselor, Certified School Counselor, and Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. I hold my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and am also a certified Guidance Counselor for children in grades K-12. I have earned all of the above credentials at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I also attended the University of Pittsburgh where I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Developmental Psychology.
I am very passionate about what I do and believe strongly that all children are worthy of love and respect and have the ability to achieve. I am here to assist the parents and students of Neil Armstrong Middle School along your journey to meeting your academic, career, and personal/social goals that you have set for yourself and/or your child(ren)! I work closely with the teachers, support staff, and administrators to make sure you are equipped with all of the necessary information and resources that you need to be successful. I know it can be tough finding time to balance everything that is going on in our busy lives but if we all work together we can promote positive growth and success among each other!
