5th and sixth grade health and physical education

Activities for the 2007-2008 Academic Year

  • Frisbee Golf

Medical Excuse

In the event of an injury or illness a Can-Do List will be faxed to the student's physician.  In the extreme case where a student has a "no activity" medical excuse, the student will then be given an alternate written assignment.

 

5th Grade Health

Throughout our academic year, our goal is to discuss and learn about the following topics in order to establish and maintain a life-long, healthy lifestyle.

 

General topics include:

  1. A growing and changing human body

  2. Being a wise health consumer

  3. Foods for good nutrition

  4. Keeping fit and active

  5. Planning for safety

  6. Preventing violence

  7. Learning about diseases

  8. Legal and illegal drugs

  9. Learning about alcohol and tobacco

6th Grade Health

For a 9-week period, our goal will be to discuss and learn about the following topics in order to establish and maintain a life-long, healthy lifestyle.


General topics include:

  1. Planning for a healthy lifestyle

  2. Caring for yourself

  3. Social and emotional health

  4. Nutrition and fitness

  5. Your body: Growing and changing (Wonder of Wonders)

  6. Body systems

  7. Preventing disease (integrated throughout the 9-weeks)

  8. Drugs, tobacco and alcohol (integrated throughout the 9-weeks)

  9. Personal and community safety (introduction to CPR and first aid)
