2007 District Asset Protection Project Photos--Your Tax Dollars Hard at Work!

The following are some "progress" photos taken at some of our schools that underwent renovation work that began in the summer of 2007.  All of the projects are substantially completed, with the interior projects finished.  The only work that remains is outside work (landscaping/roofing) that will be completed when the weather improves.

NEIL ARMSTRONG MIDDLE SCHOOL

STATUS: All of the interior work is completed.  Landscaping will be completed when the weather is better.

Lighting in the Neil Armstrong auditorium is being upgraded.

 


New carpeting has been installed in several areas at Neil.

These next six pictures were taken 15 days after the previous group.  As you can see, the lighting upgrades in the Neil auditorium are almost finished!

These pictures were taken two weeks after the previous group and show that the work on the auditorium and excavation/drainage work are almost complete.  Principal Janet O'Rourke reports that everything should be completed in a week or two.  Thank you to everyone for their patience!

The drainage holes have been filled and the work is almost complete.

 
The lighting upgrades in the auditorium are completed.  The contractor has to complete some minor cleaning projects and then the auditorium with be available for use.

FRANKLIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

STATUS: All of the interior work is completed.  The students are using the new music, speech and language and instructional support classrooms.  Outdoor seeding/landscaping/paving will be completed when the weather permits.

The modular classrooms at Franklin are in the process of being removed and will be replaced with four classrooms, created from reconfigured space within the school.

 

Two Special Education Classrooms are being created in the area near the current gymnasium and two Music Classrooms will be constructed in the space below the gymnasium.

As you can see, there is much work to be done on the two classrooms being created underneath the gymnasium.

 

Work is progressing on the two new classrooms for Speech and Language and IST.

 
 

The biggest change is the progress on the new music classrooms to be located underneath the gymnasium.  A concrete floor has been poured and walls are being erected.

These new classrooms were locker rooms and are being converted to to classroom, bathroom and smaller locker space.

When you come down the stairs at Franklin, these are the doors leading to the new music classrooms that are constructed underneath the gymnasium.

The next five photos were taken on Monday, December 10, and show the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the new music classrooms at Franklin!

MEMORIAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

STATUS: The interior addition is completed and the students began to occupy the new space on Monday, February 18.  Roof and landscaping projects will be completed when the weather improves.

The modular classrooms at Memorial are in the process of being removed and will be replaced with a new four-classroom addition, which can be seen from the Faculty Room window, looking out toward the playground area.

These next five photos were taken a couple of days before winter recess and show that great progress has been made on the new addition at Memorial.  This photo shows that tar paper is on the roof and that work will be completed soon, weather permitting.

These next seven photos were taken the second week in January and show the progress that has been made over the past two and one-half weeks.

If you look at the photo that is two above this one, in the same column, you will see that the view has changed drastically.  A hallway has been created, with the new rooms located on both sides of the hallway.

These next six pictures were taken the third week of January and show progress is being made on the new classrooms.  Pictured above is a shot of the new lockers.

These next seven shots were taken February 8 and show that the new rooms at Memorial are ready to occupy, once the district receives permission from the authorities to occupy the space.  As you can see from this photo, the temporary wall in the Memorial hallway has been removed and you can see the corridor of the new edition at Memorial.

LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

STATUS: Students moved out of the modular classrooms and into their new classrooms located inside Lincoln on December 3.  Landscaping work will be completed when the weather improves.

The modular classrooms at Lincoln are in the process of being removed and replaced by a four-classroom addition at the back of the school.  Here is a view from the parking lot, looking down the side of the building.
